After watching "Fresh", I found myself looking at my plate with a newfound curiosity that really made me think! I've always had a bit of an intuitive sense that food doesn’t just magically pop up on supermarket shelves, but this film encouraged me to slow down and dig deeper into where our food actually comes from. It opened my eyes to the farms, the animals, and the soil involved in our meals, as well as the people and companies that determine what makes it to our tables. It's fascinating and a little unsettling, but it definitely inspired me to be more mindful about my food choices! Have you ever thought about where your food comes from?

Talkin' Bout a Revolution: New Documentary 'FRESH' Provides Hope on Sustainable Food Movement | The Opinioness
The film is more than just a feast for the eyes, it’s a fascinating journey into the entire system behind our food! Directed by Ana Sofia Joanes, "Fresh" explores industrial agriculture and raises vital questions about profit's impact on people, animals, and the planet's well-being. What makes "Fresh" so uplifting is its focus on hope and innovation. You’ll meet inspiring farmers, thinkers, and entrepreneurs, like Joel Salatin from Polyface Farms, who are boldly changing the way we think about growing and distributing food. These individuals aren’t just sitting back and complaining, they’re rolling up their sleeves and actively reimagining a more sustainable and ethical food system. It’s an eye-opening experience that will leave you not only informed but also inspired!

One moment that really stood out to me was when Salatin walked through his lush, green fields, talking to his animals like friends. He said, “Let the animal express its natural behavior.” That idea hit me hard. In a world where chickens are often crammed into dark, windowless sheds and cows are fed corn they were never meant to digest, it’s almost radical to suggest we should treat animals with dignity. It made me think: How have we strayed so far from such a basic concept?

The film has this thoughtful yet strong vibe. It doesn’t scream at you; it invites you to listen and think. That invitation is pretty powerful. It made me realize just how disconnected we’ve become from the natural systems that keep us going. We’re so used to everything being convenient that we rarely stop to question it. But Fresh shakes that up and doesn’t let you ignore what it’s saying. The intended audience seems like everyday people—just like me—who maybe haven’t really thought much about food systems but are open to learning. I liked that it doesn’t talk down to us. It respects our intelligence and assumes we care, even if we’re not exactly sure how to get involved.

This film made me feel a mix of guilt, curiosity, and empowerment. Guilt, because I’ve supported harmful systems without knowing. Curiosity, because I want to learn more about alternatives. And empowerment, because change seems possible.
Does Fresh matter? Absolutely! It truly does because what we eat affects everything around us: our health, our environment, our communities, and the future of generations to come. While it can be tempting to stick to what's cheap and convenient, Fresh inspires us to care about our choices. It's not just about us; it's also about the planet and the hardworking individuals who grow our food.
Ultimately, Fresh is more than just a film—it's an eye-opener for all! It reminds us that we’re not mere consumers; we have the power to be active participants in a system ripe for change. Together, we can make informed choices that benefit both ourselves and the world we live in!
